Who We Help

We work with a select number of clients.

Typically professionals, business owners and pre-retirees who have spent decades building their wealth — and want an adviser who treats it with the same care they did.

Planning Your Sea-Change?

The Far South Coast
is calling. Let’s get
you ready.

The financial side of a sea-change is more complex than most people expect. There are decisions to make about your city property, your superannuation, your income structure — and how you fund the life you’re moving toward.

✓

City property decisions — sell, keep, or leverage? We help you structure this before you move.

✓

Superannuation and income planning — so your transition is funded and your retirement income is structured from day one.

✓

We know the Far South Coast. We live here. We understand what it actually costs — and takes — to retire well in this region.

Our Philosophy

We don’t sell products.
We solve problems.

Indigo was built on a single conviction: the best financial advice starts with understanding the full picture of your life.

“The best financial plan isn’t the most complicated one — it’s the one you can actually live by.”

“I built Indigo for clients who want an adviser who’s genuinely invested in their outcome — not their transaction.”

Why Indigo?

“The colour indigo has been associated for centuries with integrity, wisdom, trust and fairness — the same values that sit at the heart of everything we do.”

Deep, considered and unhurried, indigo sits between the calm reliability of blue and the intuition of violet. It is the colour of structure, of clear thinking, and of advice given with sincerity and purpose.

We chose it because it reflects how we work — and how we believe financial advice should always be given.

How We Work Together

A clear path from first conversation

⬡ Morningstar Research Partnership

Investment portfolios built on institutional research

Indigo Financial Planning uses Separately Managed Account (SMA) structures for eligible clients. We use Morningstar SMAs which are included on our Approved Product List (APL), as well as the Indigo Balanced and Indigo Growth portfolios — custom SMAs developed in conjunction with Morningstar, who act as Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) maintaining them on an ongoing basis. All SMA recommendations are subject to a thorough suitability assessment and are documented in your Statement of Advice.

      Common Questions

      Everything you wanted
      to ask before booking

Do I need a certain amount of money to work with Indigo?

We work with clients who typically have $400,000 or more in investable assets — superannuation, investments, cash or property equity. If you’re not sure whether you qualify, just reach out and we’ll have an honest conversation.

Nothing formal is required for the initial consultation. If you want to come prepared, a rough sense of your super balance, any investment properties, outstanding debts and your current income is a good starting point. We’ll guide the conversation from there.

Absolutely. Many of our clients work with us remotely via Microsoft Teams — including city-based clients planning a sea-change to the Far South Coast, and clients who have moved away but kept Dean as their adviser. Distance is not a barrier.

We typically have availability for an initial consultation within 1–2 weeks. Book online or call 0405 134 748 and we’ll find a time that works for you — in person in Merimbula or via Teams.

A Statement of Advice (SOA) is a formal written document that sets out every recommendation we make for you — with a full explanation of our reasoning, the risks involved and a complete disclosure of all fees. You receive this before any action is taken on your behalf.

The initial 30-minute consultation is $125, paid at booking and non-refundable. Ongoing advice fees are discussed transparently during that first meeting and detailed in writing in your Statement of Advice. There are no hidden fees.

Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs) are not suitable for every client. Before making any recommendation, we assess your investment objectives, risk tolerance, time horizon, financial situation and personal needs in full. SMAs are generally considered for clients where the structure provides a meaningful benefit — such as direct ownership of underlying securities, transparency of holdings, and tax efficiency. Where an SMA is not the right fit, we recommend an alternative investment structure. All recommendations — including the reasons for them — are documented in your Statement of Advice.
